On Saturday, May 1, 2011, the Catholic Immigration Community Connections Program and the Rwandan Seniors group tie-dyed 200 shirts that will used for the 2011 Community Cup event day volunteers. The CIC Community Connection Youth Program works to connect Ottawa’s youth residents with newcomer youths to help them adjust to life in Canada.

The youths, aged between 14 and 24, get together for activities that show the different sides of Canadian culture while helping the newcomers gain confidence to their new lives in Canada by making new friends, developing new skills and practicing their English and French skills.  To get involved in this program, contact Nicola@cic.ca. 

The idea behind the shirts was to create t-shirts that were similar in style, but unique in their individual designs – perfect to reflect the diverse, welcoming spirit of the Community Cup.
